We built this for ourselves first.
CleverOtter came out of running client sites in production, every day. It is the tool we built for our own teams, opened up to everyone else.
Why it exists
Putting a finished folder of files on the internet had somehow become a project of its own.
Every host wanted something first: a CLI to install, an account to connect, a pipeline to configure, a config file to learn. All of it in front of an operation that is, at heart, copying a directory to a server.
So we built the version we wanted. No client, no dashboard round-trip, no build step we did not ask for. Copy the folder up with the tool already on your machine, and the site is live before you have switched windows.
We host our own client work on it, and this page is served by it too. If it breaks, it breaks for us first — which is the only quality guarantee we would actually trust from someone else.

Four things we have decided not to do.

Sell a roadmap
Two states only: shipped, or not shipped. Nothing is billed before it exists, and we do not put a quarter next to a feature to close a deal.

Surprise you with a bill
We email before we charge, and we do not suspend a working site over a traffic spike. Usage-based pricing should not mean unbounded pricing.

Watch your visitors
Nothing is injected into the sites we host for you — no cookies, no trackers, no third-party script. We count bytes and requests because we have to bill you, and nothing else.
The operation
Well funded, and entirely in the EU.
Your host should still be there in five years. We are resourced so that it will be, and we own the whole stack it runs on.
